The crowd rose to their feet as Udo Renger kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Andreas Hägglund. That made the score 1-0 in the 3 minute of play. Sergio Loi hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Deportivo Capitalista's Andreas Hägglund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erik Niva in the 8th minute of play. SV PM Cottbus were awarded a corner in the 9th minute after Deportivo Capitalista's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Carl Tempel took the corner. The corner ended in Carl Tempel almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Deportivo Capitalista's Andreas Hägglund did a great save. In the 11th minute, Ivan Breitmacher hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carl Tempel got free with Andreas Hägglund in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julius Tenbruck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norberto Ranolfo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th match minute, SV PM Cottbus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ansgar Kleim to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Arnoldo Fix's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julius Tenbruck was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Alonzo Domingues was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 33 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 32nd minute of the game. One of Deportivo Capitalista:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SV PM Cottbus:s goal. Andreas Hägglund had in the 34thth minute some difficulties stopping Carl Tempel's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Andreas Hägglund came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by SV PM Cottbus's Carl Tempel. But to his dismay, Carl Tempel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnoldo Fix in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julius Tenbruck saved SV PM Cottbus from getting behind. Andreas Hägglund made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Carl Tempel sent off a good shot on target. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Andreas Hägglund successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 48th minute SV PM Cottbus were awarded a corner. Carl Tempel went to the cornerflag to take it. SV PM Cottbus's Carl Tempel was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Andreas Hägglund in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

A collision led to SV PM Cottbus getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Carlos Uijtterhoven hit a great ball. Deportivo Capitalista's Andreas Hägglund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gencalp Kani in the 55th minute of play. Andreas Hägglund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Niva, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Francisco Secco during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 62 played minutes Deportivo Capitalista got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Secco. Sergio Loi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Julius Tenbruck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Michael Blankenburg fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SV PM Cottbus's protests and gave Michael Blankenburg a yellow card for diving instead. After 65 played minutes SV PM Cottbus got a freekick which was hit by Michael Blankenburg. After having played for 66 minutes, Arnoldo Fix managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo Capitalista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnoldo Fix was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julius Tenbruck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Fix, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Andreas Hägglund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ansgar Kleim, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 76th minute, Sergio Loi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the match, Deportivo Capitalista's goal looked a bit too open when Erik Niva came free, but Andreas Hägglund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Deportivo Capitalista defense, Carl Tempel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andreas Hägglund. The Deportivo Capitalista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andreas Hägglund should have stopped the shot. 95 minutes into the match, SV PM Cottbus's goalkeeper Julius Tenbruck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sergio Loi. Julius Tenbruck was a little too slow when Sergio Loi got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 96th minute. The score was now 5-1. Deportivo Capitalista's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
