The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raúl Maia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Pedro Luís Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 6th minute Raúl Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Luís Fernandez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Morro Grande E.C's Willian Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Prado in the 14th minute of play. Neil Mar received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Willian Loyola came out and tried to block the shot, but Neil Mar slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 15th minute. Pedro Luís Fernandez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Duarte in the 20th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Fabiano de Queiroz notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Morro Grande E.C's Willian Loyola. Willian Loyola was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Willian Loyola didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leonardo Vides went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. 31 minutes into the game, Alberto Prado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marzagão's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Morro Grande E.C the free kick. Alberto Prado kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clóvis Motta during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Clóvis Motta hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute, Marzagão's Alberto Prado ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Willian Loyola. Willian Loyola yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. After a rather tough play, Morro Grande E.C's Diogo Pinho got a free kick in the 39th minute. 41 minutes into the game, Marzagão's Fabiano de Queiroz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Willian Loyola made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Marzagão's Alberto Prado got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fabiano de Queiroz to strike the kick off in the second half. When Tião Vieira fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marzagão's protests and gave Tião Vieira a yellow card for diving instead. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Marzagão! In the 61st minute there was a penalty for Morro Grande E.C. Reynaldo Tepedino stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Pedro Luís Fernandez. 5-1. Cristian Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Luís Fernandez having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Marzagão's César Rosa got a free kick in the 65th minute. Ernani Cearense kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. After 68 played minutes Marzagão got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Prado. In the 78th minute Neil Mar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Willian Loyola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute Marzagão were awarded a corner. Cleiton Paulista went to the cornerflag to take it. Cleiton Paulista made a great header on Marzagão's corner, it was just that Morro Grande E.C's Willian Loyola managed to reach the ball for a save. Raúl Maia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Pedro Luís Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 87 played minutes Morro Grande E.C got a freekick which was hit by Clóvis Motta. 90 minutes into the match, Morro Grande E.C's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiano de Queiroz came free, but Willian Loyola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st match minute, Morro Grande E.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reynaldo Tepedino to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Duarte's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pedro Luís Fernandez firmly grabbed it by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Prado in the 98th minute of play forced Morro Grande E.C's goalkeeper Willian Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marzagão's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
