Bon Culot recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigoris Karagiotakis in the 19th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Mesut Özil got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 21st minute, Octavian Basten had to leave the field with a concussion. Rot-Weiss-Essen made a substitution. Udo Käppeler replaced Octavian Basten. A collision led to GREEK ARMY getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Spyros Paterakis hit a great ball. In the 24th minute Mesut Özil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Styrbjörn Stokken saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Udo Käppeler came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Rot-Weiss-Essen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Udo Käppeler couldn't finish the play. In the 46thth minute of the game Grigoris Karagiotakis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. GREEK ARMY were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after Rot-Weiss-Essen's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vlassis Mellios took the corner. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Grigoris Karagiotakis sped through Rot-Weiss-Essen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of August Hoffmanns. August Hoffmanns was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Vlassis Mellios. In the 84th match minute, GREEK ARMY was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Spyros Paterakis to maneuver through the defense. In the 86thth minute of the game Udo Käppeler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GREEK ARMY's Styrbjörn Stokken was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximilian Henning in the 88th minute of play forced GREEK ARMY's goalkeeper Styrbjörn Stokken to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Ingmar Stempfle hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Rot-Weiss-Essen had won after a very even match.
