Francesco Totti scored 0-1 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iker Casillas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabrizio Canzano got free with Holger Vester in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Celedonio Dominguez succeeded in the game's 22nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-3. Holger Vester made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Fabrizio Canzano sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celedonio Dominguez in the 34th minute of play forced Villa Gordiani's goalkeeper Iker Casillas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celedonio Dominguez in the 36th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Celedonio Dominguez in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iker Casillas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 40 minutes, Philippe Albert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Villa Gordiani and the Hammarby IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Hammarby IF booed when Villa Gordiani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Philippe Albert didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celedonio Dominguez in the 42nd minute of play forced Villa Gordiani's goalkeeper Iker Casillas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hammarby IF's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Isaltino Paes in the 43rd minute. The corner ended in Isaltino Paes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas did a great save. Holger Vester made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Arrigo Marrone sent off a good shot on target. 48 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's Francesco Totti sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iker Casillas narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ove Bergman to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 59thth minute of the game Celedonio Dominguez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Celedonio Dominguez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Iker Casillas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celedonio Dominguez, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. When Hammarby IF's Celedonio Dominguez in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Villa Gordiani's goalie prevented a goal. Iker Casillas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celedonio Dominguez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabrizio Canzano in the 68th minute of play. Celedonio Dominguez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas got control of the ball when Celedonio Dominguez tried to sneak it across the goal line. Celedonio Dominguez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Iker Casillas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Villa Gordiani's Natã de Salles was substituted for Arrigo Marrone. Hammarby IF's Karl-Johan Sundén was substituted for Francesco Totti. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Hammarby IF had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
