Lambis Kazantzakoglou started the match with the kick off. Lambis Kazantzakoglou received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Holger Vester tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 8th minute of the match Hammarby IF got a corner. GREEK ARMY's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Isaltino Paes ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 8 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Bosse Larsson. If Lambis Kazantzakoglou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Holger Vester made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lambis Kazantzakoglou in the 13th minute. Celedonio Dominguez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Styrbjörn Stokken read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. 19 minutes into the game, Lambis Kazantzakoglou cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Holger Vester was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lambis Kazantzakoglou in the 23rd minute of play forced Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Holger Vester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Celedonio Dominguez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 25 minutes into the match, GREEK ARMY's goal looked a bit too open when Celedonio Dominguez came free, but Styrbjörn Stokken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Celedonio Dominguez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Celedonio Dominguez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Styrbjörn Stokken was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Styrbjörn Stokken showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francesco Totti in the 38th minute of the match. In the 42nd minute, Ola Bremming hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 45 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Bosse Larsson. Jardel Sergipano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Holger Vester having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

GREEK ARMY's Styrbjörn Stokken played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celedonio Dominguez in the 56th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Jardel Sergipano managed to get in a good position for a shot. GREEK ARMY's supporters rose to their feet, but Jardel Sergipano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Holger Vester breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of GREEK ARMY booed when Hammarby IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celedonio Dominguez didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, GREEK ARMY's Styrbjörn Stokken got control of the ball when Francesco Totti tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gösta Söderberg hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Styrbjörn Stokken made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celedonio Dominguez in the 86th minute of play. Bosse Larsson kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Jardel Sergipano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Holger Vester having to interfere. Hammarby IF's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
