Theagenis Giannou took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hector Garin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aresti Pareja's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Theagenis Giannou firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 21st minute Désiré Kaká shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodim Iacobeanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicodim Iacobeanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Désiré Kaká's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Valerios Neochoritis put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Nicodim Iacobeanu. Nicodim Iacobeanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valerios Neochoritis in the 26th minute of play. FC INTERNAZIONALE MILANO:s Theagenis Giannou showed great skill when he stopped Aresti Pareja:s penalty. Fc Otelul Galati's Nicodim Iacobeanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nunez Amato in the 36th minute of play. Ahmet Ali Poyraz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Nicodim Iacobeanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nicodim Iacobeanu came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by FC INTERNAZIONALE MILANO's Valerios Neochoritis. But to his dismay, Valerios Neochoritis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 46th minute Valerios Neochoritis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodim Iacobeanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 48 minutes into the game, Valerios Neochoritis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Nicodim Iacobeanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aresti Pareja to strike the kick off in the second half. When FC INTERNAZIONALE MILANO's Valerios Neochoritis in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
