Francisco Raymond made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ubaldo Gelacio in the 34th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club's zone, Lionel-Andrés Messi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisco Raymond came out of the goal and Lionel-Andrés Messi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Defensores de Lombroso booed when Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrico Petrini didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gavino Hitz hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sven-Edvin Dalgren was the one to do the kick off. Federico Pirro kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Gianluca Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Edvin Dalgren in the 57th minute of the match. After 59 played minutes Racing Club got a freekick which was hit by Gavino Hitz. Gianluca Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Dalgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Defensores de Lombroso's Gianluca Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Edvin Dalgren in the 72nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bruno Sauveur in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Francisco Raymond prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Gavino Hitz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Gavino Hitz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gianluca Buffon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven-Edvin Dalgren in the 84th minute of play forced Defensores de Lombroso's goalkeeper Gianluca Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gavino Hitz charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gavino Hitz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
