The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Racing Club booed when Perros del sur was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilfredo Rayman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gavino Hitzs short, quick shot in the 6thth minute got Miguel Orlondon to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Racing Club's Gavino Hitz was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 6th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Francisco Raymond showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donato Viator in the 14th minute of the match. Perros del sur's Gonzalo Chesus got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Gonzalo Chesus sped through Racing Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Francisco Raymond. In the 31st minute Gonzalo Chesus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Raymond saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miguel Orlondon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Dalgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Perros del sur were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Racing Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Teodosio Goren took the corner. Francisco Raymond took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonzalo Chesus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 44 minutes of play, Perros del sur's Gonzalo Chesus made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Francisco Raymond was left in no man's land by his defense there! The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sven-Edvin Dalgren to make the kick off. After having played for 60 minutes, Sven-Edvin Dalgren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Racing Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sven-Edvin Dalgren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 66th minute, Sven-Edvin Dalgren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes into the match, Perros del sur's Gonzalo Chesus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Francisco Raymond narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Francisco Raymond successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Carolo Indalecio hit a great ball. 75 minutes into the match, Perros del sur's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Edvin Dalgren came free, but Miguel Orlondon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 78th minute, Gavino Hitz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Miguel Orlondon was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Perros del sur's Mario Mandzukic was substituted for Gonzalo Chesus. Miguel Orlondon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gavino Hitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. After a rather tough play, Racing Club's Ivan Flor got a free kick in the 83rd minute.
