With an all-out effort, New England Minas's João Francisco Loyola threw himself towards the right post 12 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fletcher Lund, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. João Francisco Loyola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Cabezon in the 36th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, New England Minas's goal looked a bit too open when Güray Arıkhan came free, but Martin Markusson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marc Linz to strike the kick off in the second half. Güray Arıkhan scored 2-2 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Martin Markusson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kléberson Leal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Martin Markusson made a huge save. João Francisco Loyola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chris Cabezon in the 90th minute of the match.
