The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Estrela Solitária's Anselmi Saksinen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Trancoso in the 4th minute of play. Túlio Maravilha's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 18thth minute, Pedrinho Guimarães skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Estrela Solitária's attentive Rogério do Valle managed to snatch the ball when Francisco de Godoi made a throw-in in the 22nd minute of the game. Pedrinho Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Túlio Maravilha in the 23rd minute of play. Castanheiro SC's Pedrinho Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco van Basten in the 27th minute of play. Anselmi Saksinen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliézer da Silveira in the 29th minute of play. Anselmi Saksinen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliézer da Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee felt a red card was in order, 30 minutes into the game, when Walmyr Mendes put in a rough tackle. The supporters of Castanheiro SC booed when Estrela Solitária was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmyr Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Estrela Solitária's Rogério do Valle got a free kick in the 32nd minute. 34 minutes in the game Gilvan Matorin did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Túlio Maravilha. Túlio Maravilha kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. When Estrela Solitária's Marco van Basten in 40 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Pedrinho Guimarães guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Estrela Solitária's Anselmi Saksinen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kauan Rezende in the 42nd minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marco van Basten stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Marco van Basten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedrinho Guimarães was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco van Basten in the 57th minute of play forced Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Pedrinho Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rogério do Valle hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Marco van Basten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrinho Guimarães having to interfere. Anselmi Saksinen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonardo Trancoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Pedrinho Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco van Basten in the 69th minute of play. Estrela Solitária's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hugo Almeida in the 73rd minute. The corner ended in Vilhelm Norberg almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Castanheiro SC's Pedrinho Guimarães did a great save. When Hélder Madureira fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Castanheiro SC's protests and gave Hélder Madureira a yellow card for diving instead. After 82 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Hélder Madureira. Castanheiro SC's Pedrinho Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco van Basten in the 83rd minute of play. Marco van Basten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 91 minutes, Marco van Basten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Estrela Solitária's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco van Basten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Estrela Solitária's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
