Adelino Corrêa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dário Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benicio Rivas, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. A collision led to Barreal FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Yu Guang Chen hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Tiburcio Quinteros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vélez Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Tiburcio Quinteros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dário Tepedino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Barreal FC booed when Vélez Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Sayvion didn't get a good kick on the ball. Barreal FC's Dário Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Naike in the 40th minute of play. Vélez Juniors's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Santos Fonda in the 43rd minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Bernardo Sayvion heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The corner ended in Tiburcio Quinteros almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Barreal FC's Dário Tepedino did a great save. In the 56th minute, Santos Fonda fired a really elegant long shot, but Dário Tepedino threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. The corner led Vélez Juniors's Santos Fonda to fire away a dangerous shot which Dário Tepedino despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 93rd match minute, Vélez Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benicio Rivas to maneuver through the defense. Vélez Juniors's Elvio Checa got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Vélez Juniors players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
