Robert Davison dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Olli Fiedler kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bona Dios. That made the score 2-1 in the 47 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

In the 53rd minute, Gaston Fernández ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Robert Davison was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Bona Dios dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martins Palermo in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bona Dios prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
