Sporting Cristal's Jon Iruegas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilbert Ugalde in the 23rd minute of play. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alvi Verde's goalkeeper Téo Leite, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Téo Leite showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Luciano, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Leandro Heidemann managed to get in a good position for a shot. The audience was convinced that Leandro Heidemann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jon Iruegas was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. After 62 minutes, Jerônimo de Alcântara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alvi Verde and the Sporting Cristal players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sporting Cristal's Claudinei Suarbol was substituted for Ivon Curiel. After 63 played minutes Alvi Verde got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo de Alcântara. Claudinei Suarbol made in the 92nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Christian Luciano. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sporting Cristal had won after a very even match.
