Zé Carlos Mangueira made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Hoàng Huynh Duc sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Minai's Sílvio Luiz Vides got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute, Tan An's Nguyễn Ritchell ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zé Carlos Mangueira. Tan An's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Minai the free kick. Ngô Hoai hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Trần Khoi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frédson Teles's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Trần Khoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frédson Teles in the 17th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Frédson Teles sped through Tan An's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Trần Khoi. Tomás Munhoz ran back to his position shaking his head. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
