Ilie Scripcaru was left in no man's land by his defense there! Victor Chițu charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Victor Chițu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 13 played minutes FC Steaua București got a freekick which was hit by Victor Chițu. Jan Rein van Loo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilie Scripcaru having to interfere. In the 21st minute Ivor Sadler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilie Scripcaru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, FC Steaua București's Nicodim Nicopol got a free kick in the 23rd minute. After 24 played minutes FC Steaua București got a freekick which was hit by Victor Chițu. FC Steaua București's Ilie Scripcaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Raynard in the 25th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Jan Rein van Loo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ilie Scripcaru was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After 31 minutes, Jan Rein van Loo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ASC Amsterdam and the FC Steaua București players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jan Rein van Loo hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Octav Glodeanu got free with Mazhar Uğurata in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, ASC Amsterdam's Mazhar Uğurata got control of the ball when Octav Glodeanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 34 minutes of play, ASC Amsterdam's William Raynard made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ilie Scripcaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Raynard in the 43rd minute of the match. 44 minutes into the match, FC Steaua București's goal looked a bit too open when William Raynard came free, but Ilie Scripcaru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to FC Steaua București getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Gheorghe Bărănescu hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dan Iovanovici to make the kick off. The supporters of ASC Amsterdam booed when FC Steaua București was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicodim Nicopol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ilie Scripcaru made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Ivor Sadler sent off a good shot on target. 60 minutes into the match, FC Steaua București's goal looked a bit too open when William Raynard came free, but Ilie Scripcaru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. ASC Amsterdam walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
