But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kerry Sellers couldn't finish the play. 13 minutes into the match, spikarna's goalkeeper Lars Norberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xu Yun Quan. If Kerry Sellers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lars Norberg made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Kerry Sellers sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xu Yun Quan got free with Lars Norberg in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Witomir Ziomkowski scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Farid Mondragón, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lars Norberg made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Kerry Sellers sent off a good shot on target. Eric Snowden hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute Sven Nordkvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Farid Mondragón saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29th minute spikarna were awarded a corner. Atakan Pepe went to the cornerflag to take it. With his leg Lars Norberg managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when C. A. Independiente's Kerry Sellers fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Lars Norberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerry Sellers in the 33rd minute of the match. Lars Norberg made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Xu Yun Quan sent off a good shot on target. In the 46th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kerry Sellers to maneuver through the defense. Farid Mondragón showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven Nordkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The C. A. Independiente players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. spikarna were winning 0-1.

Lars Norberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ryszard Prusinowski charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ryszard Prusinowski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryszard Prusinowski to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the match, Kerry Sellers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lars Norberg. spikarna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kerry Sellers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. 68 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Sven Nordkvist came free, but Farid Mondragón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Atakan Pepe got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Farid Mondragón quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Sid Chadwick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lars Norberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kerry Sellers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 81 minutes into the match, spikarna's goal looked a bit too open when Sidney Forbes came free, but Lars Norberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lars Norberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidney Forbes, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Lars Norberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerry Sellers in the 84th minute of play. Ryszard Prusinowski got his second yellow card in the match during the 85th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. spikarna's Elof Hellsing was substituted for Witomir Ziomkowski. In the 87th minute, Ryszard Prusinowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sidney Forbes got in the 94th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Lars Norberg handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Atakan Pepe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Farid Mondragón made a huge save. Atakan Pepe's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 96thth minute, Farid Mondragón skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the spikarna players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for C. A. Independiente.
