The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a little luck, ATLETICO MENDOZA's Fausto Benino got control of the ball when Haroldo Suarez tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Milton Giménez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abuba Akotonon FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Milton Giménez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fausto Benino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Conrado Karlo's late challenge caught a Abuba Akotonon FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Conrado Karlo helped the player get up and apologised. Conrado Karlo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Milton Giménez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the last second Fausto Benino throw himself and got hold of the ball when Fulgencio Shepherd in the 24thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After a rather tough play, Abuba Akotonon FC's Fausto Abarca got a free kick in the 26th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Abuba Akotonon FC's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Pirro came free, but Benicio Txeru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind ATLETICO MENDOZA's goalkeeper Fausto Benino, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arturo Pirro to make the kick off. Fausto Benino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fulgencio Shepherd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of ATLETICO MENDOZA booed when Abuba Akotonon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Cristofol didn't get a good kick on the ball. 58 minutes into the game, Fausto Abarca cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. After 73 played minutes Abuba Akotonon FC got a freekick which was hit by Fulgencio Shepherd. Benicio Txeru was out of position in the 75 minute of play, and Hector Ferran capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Hector Ferran really showed his touch with that goal: 3-1. In the 79th match minute, Abuba Akotonon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haroldo Suarez to maneuver through the defense. Benicio Txeru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arturo Pirro in the 83rd minute of the match. Blas-Armando Giunta kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Arturo Pirros short, quick shot in the 90thth minute got Benicio Txeru to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of ATLETICO MENDOZA booed when Abuba Akotonon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximiliano Peruanton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fulgencio Shepherd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Fausto Benino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
