A collision led to Sheriff getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Clayton Gol hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Sheriff's Thodoris Tassoulis got a free kick in the 16th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriele Batistuta in the 18th minute of play forced Sheriff's goalkeeper Yahia van der Saar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clayton Gol could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Camilo Salvidor made a huge save. If Gabriele Batistuta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Camilo Salvidor made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Natalio Dominguez sent off a good shot on target. 47 minutes into the match, Sheriff's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Campelo came free, but Yahia van der Saar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clayton Gol to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Menchu FC defense, Natalio Dominguez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Camilo Salvidor. The Menchu FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Camilo Salvidor should have stopped the shot. Camilo Salvidor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clayton Gol in the 63rd minute of the match. Camilo Salvidor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clayton Gol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
