The audience thought a goal was coming when Lauro Argandoña got free with Marcos Buffon in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ergün Şener showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dario Alegría, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Ergün Şener showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Sági in the 23rd minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 24 minutes, Marcos Buffon successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marcos Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zülfü Yalazay in the 25th minute of play. AVAÍ F.C.'s Marcos Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascal Klingen in the 38th minute of play. After having played for 43 minutes, Alex Sági managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AVAÍ F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Alex Sági was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 48 minutes into the match, NoWayOut's Zülfü Yalazay sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcos Buffon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zülfü Yalazay made a kick off. Marcos Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zülfü Yalazay in the 59th minute of play. Marcos Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zülfü Yalazay in the 61st minute of the match. The referee ignored NoWayOut's protests and gave Xie Sheng Yan a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of AVAÍ F.C. booed when NoWayOut was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xie Sheng Yan didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rubens Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th match minute, NoWayOut was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conrad Mattern to maneuver through the defense. AVAÍ F.C.'s Walmyr Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
