Alex Pihl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wojciech Pasterski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Głodne Ghule's Peter-Stefan Schmeichel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cornel Ulici in the 18th minute of play. Şeref Erez made in the 19th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Peng Xu immediately put the ball in play. Ulisses Sá kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Alex Pihl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johannes Olofsson in the 23rd minute of the match. Głodne Ghule were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fridtjof Ferstad made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Fridtjof Ferstad made a precise shot to the right of Alex Pihl. SK Mons's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fridtjof Ferstad in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alex Pihl saved SK Mons from getting behind. Alex Pihl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fridtjof Ferstad in the 63rd minute of play. In the 72nd minute Wojciech Podolski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Pihl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 75 minutes SK Mons's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wojciech Podolski who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of SK Mons's goalie and right to Fabian Penczkowski. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. SK Mons's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Głodne Ghule's Peter-Stefan Schmeichel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peng Xu in the 78th minute of play. Głodne Ghule's Adam Buksa was substituted for Fridtjof Ferstad. Alex Pihl made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adam Buksa in the 91st minute. Adam Buksa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alex Pihl read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by SK Mons's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Wojciech Podolski was slow to take the kick. During this time Głodne Ghule's players had a chance to rest.
