Russ Howden made in the 4th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Norway's Emil Berntzen. Kjell Trengereid showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marty Driver in the 8th minute of the match. Norway's Kjell Trengereid played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kai Havertz in the 13th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Emil Berntzen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 20 minutes into the match, Norway's goal looked a bit too open when Kai Havertz came free, but Kjell Trengereid reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lars Hammeren in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frank Frankfurter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Lars Hammeren put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Frank Frankfurter. In the 27th minute William Rigg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kjell Trengereid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 27 minutes of play, England's William Rigg made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kjell Trengereid was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kjell Trengereid made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Rigg in the 32nd minute of play. William Rigg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kai Havertz was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Garth Stockton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kjell Trengereid. Norway's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Garth Stockton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Norway's Kjell Trengereid played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kai Havertz in the 54th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when William Rigg got free with Kjell Trengereid in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Norway's Kjell Trengereid proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Norway from getting a goal against them. Frank Frankfurter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arild Thomassen, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After having played for 59 minutes, Arild Thomassen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Norway's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arild Thomassen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st match minute, England was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Russ Howden to maneuver through the defense. Norway's Kjell Trengereid proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Norway from getting a goal against them. Kjell Trengereid made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when William Rigg sent off a good shot on target. William Rigg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Kjell Trengereid tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Frank Frankfurter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frode Koch in the 81st minute of the match. Kjell Trengereid made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Marty Driver sent off a good shot on target. Norway's Lars Hammeren got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. England made a substitution. Ronnie Odell replaced Marty Driver. Frank Frankfurter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Hammeren in the 86th minute of play. In the 90th minute Kai Havertz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kjell Trengereid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The England supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing England would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
