After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Karl-Ove Blomkvist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Felix Grubb breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Christian Wenerdahl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Hjortberg in the 12th minute of the match. Felix Grubb made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ingvar Hellgren in the 13th minute. After having played for 17 minutes, Kurt Hjortberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Heavy Balls FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kurt Hjortberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Felix Grubb didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ingvar Hellgren went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 28 minutes into the match, IFK Göteborg's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Nordin came free, but Christian Wenerdahl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Christian Wenerdahl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Erik Ivarsson in the 34th minute of play. Kurt Hjortberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Christian Wenerdahl having to make a save. In the 36th match minute, IFK Göteborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernt Öfverman to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of IFK Göteborg booed when Heavy Balls FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils-Erik Juhlin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 39 minutes, Ingvar Hellgren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Karl-Ove Blomkvist made a kick off.
