The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The throw-in from Sandu Brădescu in the 2nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Ursus Martin. Sandu Brădescu hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The supporters of F.C.BARLAD booed when Tractorul Satulung -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codruț Ferenț didn't get a good kick on the ball. F.C.BARLAD's Wojtek Szczęsny played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mădălin Cangeopol in the 16th minute of play. Dumitru Surdu hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Mugur Cenușă sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and F.C.BARLAD's Wojtek Szczęsny didn't even have to move. Wojtek Szczęsny made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Codruț Ferenț in the 20th minute of play. With a little luck, Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Panait Hațegan got control of the ball when Florin Aalexoaiei tried to sneak it across the goal line. Wojtek Szczęsny took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Mutu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute Mădălin Cangeopol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wojtek Szczęsny saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Mădălin Cangeopol's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wojtek Szczęsny was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mădălin Cangeopol in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wojtek Szczęsny prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mădălin Cangeopol blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wojtek Szczęsny having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mădălin Cangeopol in the 40th minute of play forced F.C.BARLAD's goalkeeper Wojtek Szczęsny to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Codruț Ferenț hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Panait Hațegan acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 42nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Tiberiu Pitiș. Tiberiu Pitiș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 45th minute Tiberiu Pitiș shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Panait Hațegan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mădălin Cangeopol in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wojtek Szczęsny saved F.C.BARLAD from getting behind. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ni Gang Yi was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, F.C.BARLAD's Sandu Brădescu got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Dumitru Surdu was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 54 minutes into the match. In the 74th match minute, F.C.BARLAD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ni Gang Yi to maneuver through the defense. Adrian Mutu's late challenge caught a F.C.BARLAD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adrian Mutu helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tractorul Satulung -MM- getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Adrian Mutu hit a great ball. After some careless play in the F.C.BARLAD defense, Mădălin Cangeopol kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wojtek Szczęsny. The F.C.BARLAD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wojtek Szczęsny should have stopped the shot. 95 minutes into the match, F.C.BARLAD's goal looked a bit too open when Mădălin Cangeopol came free, but Wojtek Szczęsny reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Calistrat Bucuță had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
