After some careless play in the The Owls defense, Big Blond kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Francisc Firoiu. The The Owls fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Francisc Firoiu should have stopped the shot. Basarab Pârcălab made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iulian Pordea in the 13th minute of play. Basarab Pârcălab took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iulian Pordea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 18 minutes, Cornel Angheluță mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Owls and the Carpathians players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cornel Angheluță hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Carpathians's Bruno Gotti slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Francisc Firoiu. That made the score 2-0 after 22 minutes of play. The supporters of Carpathians booed when The Owls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marin Alucai didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Santana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Francisc Firoiu made a huge save. Dudu Georgescu kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the match, The Owls's Petruț Alecu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Basarab Pârcălab narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Owls's Francisc Firoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Gotti in the 43rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, The Owls's Damian Bârlea got a free kick in the 45th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bruno Gotti stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
