The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Through an outstanding action, after 4 minutes, Edward Preston successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ben Labigne succeeded in the game's 7th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. If Paavo Burgdorf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edward Preston made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arvid Kuntz in the 11th minute. Edward Preston showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus Bensch, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Till Geppert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cléberson Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A nice corner shot did that Gavin Sedgemore got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Till Geppert quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Arvid Kuntz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Edward Preston made a huge save. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Clapham Rovers's goalkeeper Edward Preston, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 23rd match minute, Clapham Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléberson Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. After 26 played minutes Clapham Rovers got a freekick which was hit by João Francisco Toscano. 27 minutes into the match, Clapham Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Ben Labigne came free, but Edward Preston reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edward Preston didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 29th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. After 34 played minutes Clapham Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Cléberson Mendonça. Charles Booth kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. The long shot by Hermann Zach in the 37th minute really tested Edward Preston's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Paavo Burgdorf who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Edward Preston when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Hannover Reds booed when Clapham Rovers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Francisco Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute Arvid Kuntz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edward Preston saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cléberson Mendonça to strike the kick off in the second half. Till Geppert made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Cléberson Mendonça sent off a good shot on target. After 93 minutes of play, Hannover Reds's Arvid Kuntz made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edward Preston was left in no man's land by his defense there! Donny Stockton hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. 98 minutes into the match, Clapham Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Arvid Kuntz came free, but Edward Preston reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Hannover Reds players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
