Finbar Martyn's late challenge caught a Hannover Reds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Finbar Martyn helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Hannover Reds booed when St. James Gate F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Finbar Martyn didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Paavo Burgdorf managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hannover Reds's supporters rose to their feet, but Paavo Burgdorf was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Todd Murphy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 7th minute, Marcus Bensch made a precise shot to the right of Todd Murphy. St. James Gate F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Todd Murphy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paavo Burgdorf in the 9th minute of play. St. James Gate F.C.'s Todd Murphy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus Bensch in the 10th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, St. James Gate F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Arvid Kuntz came free, but Todd Murphy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute Ben Labigne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Todd Murphy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ben Labigne in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Todd Murphy saved St. James Gate F.C. from getting behind. 17 minutes into the match, St. James Gate F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Paavo Burgdorf came free, but Todd Murphy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Todd Murphy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ben Labigne went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Paavo Burgdorf's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Todd Murphy was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Till Geppert made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Barin Holt sent off a good shot on target. Todd Murphy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paavo Burgdorf in the 37th minute of the match. St. James Gate F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bodibeua Lester in the 41st minute. Bodibeua Lester made a great header on St. James Gate F.C.'s corner, it was just that Hannover Reds's Till Geppert managed to reach the ball for a save. After having played for 46 minutes, Roland Prunty managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. St. James Gate F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Roland Prunty was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barin Holt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Hannover Reds were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Todd Murphy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arvid Kuntz in the 53rd minute of play. With a little luck, St. James Gate F.C.'s Todd Murphy got control of the ball when Arvid Kuntz tried to sneak it across the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Paavo Burgdorf dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Todd Murphy, 0-5. Todd Murphy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ben Labigne in the 60th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, St. James Gate F.C.'s goalkeeper Todd Murphy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arvid Kuntz. Todd Murphy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ben Labigne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paavo Burgdorf could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Todd Murphy made a huge save. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
