Mārcis Pripāns in the 5thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Uwe Ziege, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Elmar Assing charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elmar Assing the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 6th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elmar Assing to maneuver through the defense. Denis Trenker kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. When Black horses's Mārcis Pripāns in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Uwe Ziege prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Black horses's Mārcis Pripāns in 18 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Uwe Ziege guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Uwe Ziege showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mārcis Pripāns, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Mārcis Pripāns in the 21stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Uwe Ziege, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 23 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper Uwe Ziege had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Auseklis Blitsons. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Black horses was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihails Groziņš didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mārcis Pripānss short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Uwe Ziege to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 44th minute, Albīns Rumpeters reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Uwe Ziege. The goal made the score 2-0. A collision led to Black horses getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Mārcis Pripāns hit a great ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mārcis Pripāns stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Black horses's Justs Budnieks got control of the ball when Ebbo Böse tried to sneak it across the goal line. Justs Budnieks made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ebbo Böse in the 62nd minute. In the 68th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hjalmar Blumentritt to maneuver through the defense. 69 minutes into the game, Black horses's Mārcis Pripāns nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Uwe Ziege made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vasco Jackisch during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vasco Jackisch hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the game, Erkan Fostiropoulos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Justs Budnieks. Erkan Fostiropoulos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. Justs Budnieks showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ebbo Böse in the 86th minute of the match. In the 87th minute Mārcis Pripāns shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uwe Ziege saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 93 minutes, Mārcis Pripāns managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Black horses's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mārcis Pripāns was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There was no doubt that Black horses were the better team. Black horses's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
