The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Junior Adamu to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cirilo Urki in the 61st minute of play forced Academica Pulheim's goalkeeper Slaven Dietze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Academica Pulheim's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cirilo Urki was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. In the 96th minute, Pinkus Mack hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Slaven Dietze showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Junior Adamu in the 97th minute of the match. Academica Pulheim's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. had won, even though Academica Pulheim had held more of the ball.
