Marseille's Bart Vetter slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Panos Drambas. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. Panos Drambas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Teinturier in the 9th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Nikos Savakis put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gustave Lechat. Paulo Teinturier received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Panos Drambas came out and tried to block the shot, but Paulo Teinturier slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 14th minute. In the 17th minute, Paulo Teinturier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thomas Psaris during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 20 played minutes ERGOTELIS got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Psaris. Sofiane Candau's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Panos Drambas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Paulo Teinturier recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Panos Drambas. Paulo Teinturier showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. ERGOTELIS's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Bart Vetter scored to the left of an out of position Panos Drambas, making the score, 4-1. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Nikos Savakis put it in 4-2 from a short distance just to the right of Gustave Lechat. When R.C. Marseille's Paulo Teinturier in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye ERGOTELIS's goalie prevented a goal. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gustave Lechat showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nikos Savakis to strike the kick off in the second half. Thrasivoulos Tsiblidis's late challenge caught a R.C. Marseille's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thrasivoulos Tsiblidis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 51st minute, Thrasivoulos Tsiblidis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Teinturier succeeded in the game's 57th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 6-2. Panos Drambas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Teinturier, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. When Kostas Makrodimitris fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ERGOTELIS's protests and gave Kostas Makrodimitris a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulo Teinturier during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to ERGOTELIS getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Giorgos Terzakis hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Bart Vetter's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Panos Drambas was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. The R.C. Marseille fans' excitement grew in the 76th match minute when R.C. Marseille's Paulo Teinturier looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. After 86 minutes of play, R.C. Marseille's Bart Vetter made it 8-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Panos Drambas was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 89th minute, Bart Vetter made a precise shot to the right of Panos Drambas. ERGOTELIS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-2. R.C. Marseille's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
