Erwann Patrice recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessio Cancemi in the 9th minute of play forced Cosa nostra Lyon's goalkeeper 顾朗铮 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Cosa nostra Lyon defense, Alessio Cancemi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of 顾朗铮. The Cosa nostra Lyon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 顾朗铮 should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Cosa nostra Lyon getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Willy Hautefeuille hit a great ball. Atletico Benevento's Giacomo Guarisi quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Thierry Platon, made in the 16th minute of the game. 18 minutes into the game, Dennis Filice threw the ball into play from the sideline. Cosa nostra Lyon's Damazy Sakowicz quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Bogdan Bambas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Alfonso Donato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 顾朗铮 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesare Trotta in the 23rd minute of play. Alfonso Donato took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erwann Patrice, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cesare Trotta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The throw-in from Bernardo Caroselli in the 31st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Cosa nostra Lyon's Thierry Platon. Bogdan Bambas might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alfonso Donato. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bogdan Bambas ran back to his position shaking his head. Atletico Benevento's Alfonso Donato played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bogdan Bambas in the 33rd minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Atletico Benevento fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! In the 37th minute there was a penalty for Cosa nostra Lyon. Erwann Patrice stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Alfonso Donato. 1-1. After 47 minutes, Bogdan Bambas made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Atletico Benevento's Alfonso Donato tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Bogdan Bambas made the kick off in the second half. Cosa nostra Lyon's 顾朗铮 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fryderyk Majusiak in the 56th minute of play. Alfonso Donato took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bogdan Bambas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cosa nostra Lyon's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Erwann Patrice in the 59th minute. In the 66th minute Atletico Benevento were awarded a corner. Carmine Melani went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Atletico Benevento's Carmine Melani to fire away a dangerous shot which 顾朗铮 despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After having played for 70 minutes, Bogdan Bambas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cosa nostra Lyon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bogdan Bambas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Atletico Benevento's Aldo Fioriti was substituted for Cesare Trotta. 顾朗铮 made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fryderyk Majusiak in the 74th minute. Cosa nostra Lyon's José Rivera was substituted for Bogdan Bambas. Davy Patron charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Fryderyk Majusiak really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. In the 89th minute, José Rivera made a precise shot to the right of Alfonso Donato. Atletico Benevento's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. 顾朗铮 made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Fryderyk Majusiak sent off a good shot on target. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 5-2 when José Rivera sped through Atletico Benevento's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alfonso Donato.
