Florentin Gougeon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Felix Jovanovic read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Jonny Logan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Felix Jovanovic made a huge save. Andoni Zubizarreta came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Tours Football Club's Willy Sauvestre. But to his dismay, Willy Sauvestre quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Andoni Zubizarreta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willy Sauvestre, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. With a little luck, Tours Football Club's Felix Jovanovic got control of the ball when Jonny Logan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Willy Sauvestre's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andoni Zubizarreta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. After 25 minutes Valencia C.F.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Désiré Charvin who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Marcel Singer heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 27 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Willy Sauvestre came free, but Andoni Zubizarreta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Jovanovic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florentin Gougeon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Florentin Gougeon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Felix Jovanovic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florentin Gougeon, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The throw-in from Christophe Régnault in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Valencia C.F.'s Todd Kidd. Tours Football Club's Felix Jovanovic proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Tours Football Club from getting a goal against them. In the 38th minute of the match Valencia C.F. got a corner. Tours Football Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Javi Guerra ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Valencia C.F.'s Jonny Logan getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Bishen Quattrocchi's late challenge caught a Valencia C.F.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bishen Quattrocchi helped the player get up and apologised. After 39 played minutes Tours Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Bishen Quattrocchi. After having played for 43 minutes, Florentin Gougeon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Valencia C.F.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Florentin Gougeon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Felix Jovanovic made an important save on a dangerous shot by Florentin Gougeon in the 47th minute. After 48 minutes, Joachim Migne mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tours Football Club and the Valencia C.F. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 48th minute, Joachim Migne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Javi Guerra struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Felix Jovanovic didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valencia C.F..
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jonny Logan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Florentin Gougeon notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Tours Football Club's Felix Jovanovic. Felix Jovanovic was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 60th minute, Florentin Gougeon made a precise shot to the right of Felix Jovanovic. Tours Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. 63 minutes into the game, Christophe Régnault was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tours Football Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Valencia C.F. the free kick. In the 63rd minute, Christophe Régnault hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Tours Football Club defense, Florentin Gougeon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felix Jovanovic. The Tours Football Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Jovanovic should have stopped the shot. If Jonny Logan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Ángel Mista scored 5-1 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Felix Jovanovic, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jonny Logan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Jovanovic having to interfere. Felix Jovanovic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florentin Gougeon, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. 91 minutes into the game, Valencia C.F.'s Miguel Ángel Mista nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Felix Jovanovic made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. Tours Football Club's Felix Jovanovic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonny Logan in the 98th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Valencia C.F. had played much better football throughout.
