Etienne Ottevaere kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th match minute, De hijgende Hertjes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geert Fokkelman to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 18 minutes, Freek Pinksteren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. De hijgende Hertjes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Freek Pinksteren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 20th minute, Carsten Zoetebier made a precise shot to the right of Waut Goons. Sporting Mambo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Steen Müür made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pino Maerschalckx in the 29th minute. An unexpected shot in the 33rd minute by Michael Armentier got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 35th minute, Harold Engelborgh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 38 minutes into the match, De hijgende Hertjes's goalkeeper Steen Müür had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Harold Engelborgh. 42 minutes into the match, Sporting Mambo's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Lammers came free, but Waut Goons reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Matthieu Vincke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Mambo's supporters rose to their feet, but Matthieu Vincke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steen Müür breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carsten Zoetebier to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Sporting Mambo defense, Carsten Zoetebier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waut Goons. The Sporting Mambo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waut Goons should have stopped the shot. Harold Engelborgh hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Waut Goons made an important save on a dangerous shot by Freek Pinksteren in the 62nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in De hijgende Hertjes's zone, Yoachim Fondria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Steen Müür came out of the goal and Yoachim Fondria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. De hijgende Hertjes's Steen Müür played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pino Maerschalckx in the 65th minute of play. Steen Müür showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yoachim Fondria in the 69th minute of the match. A collision led to Sporting Mambo getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Etienne Ottevaere hit a great ball. If Harold Engelborgh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. De hijgende Hertjes's Steen Müür played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harold Engelborgh in the 76th minute of play. De hijgende Hertjes's Marcel Lammers got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sporting Mambo booed when De hijgende Hertjes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geert Fokkelman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute Marcel Lammers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waut Goons saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harold Engelborgh in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Steen Müür saved De hijgende Hertjes from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harold Engelborgh in the 92nd minute of play forced De hijgende Hertjes's goalkeeper Steen Müür to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 94 minutes, Michael Armentier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting Mambo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michael Armentier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The De hijgende Hertjes supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing De hijgende Hertjes would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
