Mjöllnir's Marc Brand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Toolenaar in the 32nd minute of play. Marc Brand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hendrik van der Struijk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jurgen Oorschot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marc Brand read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Mjöllnir getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Quint Barbonetti hit a great ball. After 38 played minutes, Weed Excelsior's Henk Stroobos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marc Brand came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Weed Excelsior reached it. In the 42nd minute Didier Bonenfant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Smeekes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thomas Smeekes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Didier Bonenfant in the 44th minute of the match. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The wind increased when Didier Bonenfant made the kick off in the second half. Marcel Toolenaar received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. In the 63rd minute, Jurgen Oorschot left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Weed Excelsior fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. 68 minutes into the game, Mjöllnir's Didier Bonenfant nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thomas Smeekes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. In the 71st minute, Weed Excelsior's Henk Oorschot seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Henk Oorschot the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Weed Excelsior protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Henk Oorschot had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 70 minutes into the game, one of Weed Excelsior:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 73rd minute there was a penalty for Mjöllnir. Ralf Scenna stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Thomas Smeekes. 3-4. Marc Brand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcel Toolenaar, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute.
