Puei EC's Filipe Leme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renato Ortiz in the 26th minute of play. Samuel Luz hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After having played for 29 minutes, Cláudio Passos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Puei EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cláudio Passos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Puei EC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Róbson Neto hit a great ball. 40 minutes into the match, Puei EC's goalkeeper Filipe Leme had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manfredo Freire. Arlindo Leão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Filipe Leme made a huge save. 47 minutes into the match, Puei EC's goal looked a bit too open when Arlindo Leão came free, but Filipe Leme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cássio Marques was the one to do the kick off. If Manfredo Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manfredo Freire in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Filipe Leme prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Josué Gerber hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Flamengo FC's Serginho Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo FC from getting a goal against them. After 60 played minutes Flamengo FC got a freekick which was hit by Manfredo Freire. Arlindo Leão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Filipe Leme read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arlindo Leão in the 68th minute of play forced Puei EC's goalkeeper Filipe Leme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cássio Marques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Flamengo FC fully deserved thier win.
