Flamengo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barra EC the free kick. In the 10th minute, Roger Cearense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arlindo Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rômulo Camargo having to interfere. Ricardo Santos's late challenge caught a Flamengo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Santos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Barra EC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Ricardo Santos hit a great ball. Serginho Azevedo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dito Vander went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 19th minute, Pedro Luiz Souto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Serginho Azevedo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. André Luís de Amaral scored 0-4 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Serginho Azevedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 27th minute, Dito Vander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manfredo Freire could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Rômulo Camargo made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Pedro Luiz Souto put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Serginho Azevedo. 39 minutes into the match, Pedro Luiz Souto notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Flamengo FC's Serginho Azevedo. Serginho Azevedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Serginho Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luiz Souto in the 43rd minute of the match. The supporters of Flamengo FC booed when Barra EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernandinho Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 45 played minutes Flamengo FC got a freekick which was hit by Abelardo Fantini. Flamengo FC's Serginho Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Luiz Souto in the 48th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedro Luiz Souto to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Luiz Souto in the 51st minute of play forced Flamengo FC's goalkeeper Serginho Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Flamengo FC's zone, Dito Vander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Serginho Azevedo came out of the goal and Dito Vander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Serginho Azevedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Luiz Souto's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Dito Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barra EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dito Vander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Serginho Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedro Luiz Souto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Serginho Azevedo made a huge save. Serginho Azevedo came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Barra EC's Pedro Luiz Souto. But to his dismay, Pedro Luiz Souto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-9. After a rather tough play, Barra EC's Dito Vander got a free kick in the 81st minute. 84 minutes into the match, Pedro Luiz Souto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Serginho Azevedo. Serginho Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dito Vander in the 88th minute of play. Dito Vander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Serginho Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Pedro Luiz Souto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 96th play minutes Pedro Luiz Souto shot 1-11, a short shot which went by Serginho Azevedo and just under the crossbar into goal. Barra EC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
