Nelsinho Meira who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Eusébio Albuquerque when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 6 minutes into the game, Santo Amaro AC's Cesinha da Silveira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luís Fernando Cavalcante made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Conrado Qwinton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Eusébio Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cafu Martins's late challenge caught a Santo Amaro AC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cafu Martins helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Santo Amaro AC booed when Pindorama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cafu Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute Conrado Qwinton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Albuquerque saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute of the match, Conrado Qwinton tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Eusébio Albuquerque saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Eusébio Albuquerque was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Cafu Martins capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cafu Martins really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Eusébio Albuquerque took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conrado Qwinton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Cesinha da Silveira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Fernando Cavalcante was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Vito Soeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 30 played minutes Pindorama got a freekick which was hit by Agnaldo Massa. After having played for 31 minutes, Vito Soeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santo Amaro AC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vito Soeiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 31 minutes, Vito Soeiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santo Amaro AC and the Pindorama players grew even worse after the yellow card. 35 minutes into the match Nelsinho Meira climbed in front of goal and pressed up 2-1 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Eusébio Albuquerque. After a rather tough play, Pindorama's Genílson Marques got a free kick in the 38th minute. Vito Soeiro struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Luís Fernando Cavalcante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santo Amaro AC. Cesinha da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Luís Fernando Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nelsinho Meira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Diguinho Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 58 minutes into the game, Conrado Qwinton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Eusébio Albuquerque was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 63rd play minutes Nelsinho Meira shot 4-1, a short shot which went by Eusébio Albuquerque and just under the crossbar into goal. 66 minutes into the match, Santo Amaro AC's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Meira came free, but Eusébio Albuquerque reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute, Cafu Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cesinha da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Luís Fernando Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Michel de Brito hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Cesinha da Silveira was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 77th minute. Santo Amaro AC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Santo Amaro AC's Eusébio Albuquerque played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrado Qwinton in the 81st minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 84th minute by Diguinho Ortiz got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 85 minutes into the match, Conrado Qwinton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eusébio Albuquerque. Santo Amaro AC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Conrado Qwinton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. After 91 played minutes Santo Amaro AC got a freekick which was hit by Raimundo Salgado. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Vito Soeiro took a quick shot and it went in 5-2 without a chance for Luís Fernando Cavalcante to make any attempt to save it.
