The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Caatiba MZC's Rodolfo Quirino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luís Trigo in the 3rd minute of play. Clemente Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodolfo Quirino having to interfere. Adrianinho Ortiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chiquinho Vasconcelos having to interfere. Ezequiel da Rocha's late challenge caught a Botafogo AP's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ezequiel da Rocha helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th match minute, Caatiba MZC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ezequiel da Rocha to maneuver through the defense. Clóvis das Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 16 minutes into the match, Caatiba MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Eriberto Esteves came free, but Rodolfo Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th minute, André Luís Trigo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rodolfo Quirino was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 22 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Caatiba MZC! The referee gave Botafogo AP a penalty, 25 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Clóvis das Neves, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Caatiba MZC's Rodolfo Quirino. 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Trigo in the 28th minute of play forced Caatiba MZC's goalkeeper Rodolfo Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Caatiba MZC booed when Botafogo AP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 37thth minute of the game André Luís Trigo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caatiba MZC's Rodolfo Quirino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers André Luís Trigo in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rodolfo Quirino saved Caatiba MZC from getting behind. In the 43rd minute, André Luís Trigo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 45th minute André Luís Trigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Caatiba MZC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Botafogo AP were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when André Luís Trigo made the kick off in the second half. The Botafogo AP fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Botafogo AP's André Luís Trigo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The referee gave Eriberto Esteves a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. 71 minutes into the match, Caatiba MZC's Adrianinho Ortiz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chiquinho Vasconcelos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Laerte da Silva kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Botafogo AP's Mané Souza was substituted for Clóvis das Neves. A collision led to Caatiba MZC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Laerte da Silva hit a great ball. Rodolfo Quirino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dagoberto Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Clemente Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Botafogo AP's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
