The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Marzagão booed when Botafogo AP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agnaldo de Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Neil Mar came free with the goalkeeper in the 16th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Chiquinho Vasconcelos could save by the left post. When Alberto Prado, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 17 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Chiquinho Vasconcelos was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Prado in the 21st minute of play forced Botafogo AP's goalkeeper Chiquinho Vasconcelos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eriberto Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ruy Sarmento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Luís Trigo in the 36th minute of the match. The supporters of Botafogo AP booed when Marzagão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caco Donato didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Botafogo AP's André Luís Trigo in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Marzagão's goalie prevented a goal. Neil Mar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chiquinho Vasconcelos having to interfere. Eriberto Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 66th minute, Alberto Prado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Frank Goiano replaced José Pedro Coelho. Ruy Sarmento came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Botafogo AP's Eriberto Esteves. But to his dismay, Eriberto Esteves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Clemente Lopes kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. After 80 played minutes Marzagão got a freekick which was hit by Cleiton Paulista. Humberto Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruy Sarmento having to interfere. Cleiton Paulista hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Botafogo AP's Humberto Maia got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Botafogo AP's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
