Tomé Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elano Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. If Amadeo Tuste had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute, Ronaldo Alcântara ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlos Augusto Recife was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Tomé Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amadeo Tuste, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elano Soares got free with Tomé Montenegro in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benê Sabóia's late challenge caught a Ferreira Lopes MZC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benê Sabóia helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benê Sabóia to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Augusto Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Elano Soares took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomé Montenegro. Tomé Montenegro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elano Soares got free with Tomé Montenegro in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cláudio das Neves hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Amadeo Tuste recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Ronaldo Alcântara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Augusto Recife. Palmeiras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronaldo Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nilton Soeiro during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ferreira Lopes MZC booed when Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilton Soeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronaldo Alcântara took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Augusto Recife. Carlos Augusto Recife dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Carlos Augusto Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After 43 played minutes Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Benê Sabóia. If Dário Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Augusto Recife stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ronaldo Alcântara's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ferreira Lopes MZC made a substitution. Herald Depauw replaced Luka Beaugendre. The wind increased when Amadeo Tuste made the kick off in the second half. Dedé Paiva kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. After 53 played minutes, Palmeiras's Perivaldo Furlan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tomé Montenegro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Palmeiras reached it. When Dedé Paiva fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ferreira Lopes MZC's protests and gave Dedé Paiva a yellow card for diving instead. Dedé Paiva hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute, Ronaldo Alcântara left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ferreira Lopes MZC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. In the 61st match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benê Sabóia to maneuver through the defense. Dário Martins could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Carlos Augusto Recife made a huge save. Ferreira Lopes MZC's Tomé Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elano Soares in the 69th minute of play. 71 minutes into the match, Ferreira Lopes MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Elano Soares came free, but Tomé Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Palmeiras's Carlos Augusto Recife proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Palmeiras's Carlos Augusto Recife got control of the ball when Ronaldo Alcântara tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carlos Augusto Recife came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Ferreira Lopes MZC's Ronaldo Alcântara. But to his dismay, Ronaldo Alcântara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-6. 84 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Recife had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ronaldo Alcântara. 85 minutes into the game, Ferreira Lopes MZC's Dário Martins nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Augusto Recife made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-7. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Cláudio das Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ferreira Lopes MZC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cláudio das Neves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Augusto Recife breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dário Martins could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Carlos Augusto Recife made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Benê Sabóia got a free kick in the 92nd minute. When the final whistle sounded Ferreira Lopes MZC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Palmeiras.
