The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Desportiva Paulo Afonso booed when Callegari was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Duarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olavo Vasconcelos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Breno Novaes, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walmir Fernandes got free with Paulo Renato Falcão in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gustavo Duarte scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Olavo Vasconcelos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 15 minutes into the match, Callegari's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Garcia came free, but Paulo Renato Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Desportiva Paulo Afonso's Walmir Fernandes slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Paulo Renato Falcão. That made the score 1-1 after 18 minutes of play. In the 24th minute, Gabriel Ferraz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute, Breno Novaes made a precise shot to the right of Olavo Vasconcelos. Desportiva Paulo Afonso's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After having played for 31 minutes, Breno Novaes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Callegari's supporters crossed their fingers, but Breno Novaes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 32 played minutes Francisco Garcia rounded Callegari's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Francisco Garcia to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Callegari's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Garcia came free, but Paulo Renato Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Desportiva Paulo Afonso's zone, Giuseppe Sanches stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olavo Vasconcelos came out of the goal and Giuseppe Sanches tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Guto Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Olavo Vasconcelos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Callegari. In the 74th minute of the match Ramón Paraibano sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Olavo Vasconcelos skillfully saved the ball. Olavo Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giuseppe Sanches in the 75th minute of the match. Paulo Renato Falcão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmir Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Walmir Valladares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olavo Vasconcelos. Desportiva Paulo Afonso's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Walmir Valladares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. A collision led to Desportiva Paulo Afonso getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Luizinho Castro hit a great ball. In the 82nd minute, Ramón Paraibano made a precise shot to the right of Olavo Vasconcelos. Desportiva Paulo Afonso's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5. After a rather tough play, Desportiva Paulo Afonso's Anderson Tavares got a free kick in the 85th minute. A hard shot 86 in the game by Gustavo Duarte from a close distance when the talented Olavo Vasconcelos managed to make a qualified save. Desportiva Paulo Afonso's players were relieved. Callegari's Breno Novaes got his second yellow card of the match in the 88th minute. The referee ordered Breno Novaes off the ground. After 92 minutes of play Desportiva Paulo Afonso's Luizinho Castro was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 92 played minutes Desportiva Paulo Afonso got a freekick which was hit by Luizinho Castro. Olavo Vasconcelos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guto Tinoco in the 94th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Callegari walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
