Rubinho Couto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui de Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Leões do Sul 53's Alberto Sena got a free kick in the 14th minute. Rubinho Couto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui de Lima in the 16th minute of the match. After 19 played minutes S.C. Ferrari got a freekick which was hit by Edu da Cunha. After having played for 20 minutes, Egídio Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leões do Sul 53's supporters crossed their fingers, but Egídio Reis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sílvio Antunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elivélton Sarmento, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Sílvio Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horácio Favoretto in the 23rd minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, S.C. Ferrari's goal looked a bit too open when Horácio Favoretto came free, but Sílvio Antunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Claudinei Mazza's late challenge caught a Leões do Sul 53's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudinei Mazza helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Leões do Sul 53 booed when S.C. Ferrari was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elivélton Sarmento got in the 33rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Sílvio Antunes handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Leões do Sul 53's Pedro Paulo Brodel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Genílson Marques in the 36 minute of the game. After a rather tough play, S.C. Ferrari's Vinícius Carneiro got a free kick in the 37th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horácio Favoretto in the 43rd minute of play forced S.C. Ferrari's goalkeeper Sílvio Antunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui de Lima kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Elivélton Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Antunes having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rui de Lima to make the kick off. When S.C. Leões do Sul 53's Alberto Sena managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hermínio Faria in the 69 minute of the game. A sloppy throw-in by Hermínio Faria in the 77th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Leões do Sul 53's Alberto Sena. Sílvio Antunes came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Leões do Sul 53's Horácio Favoretto. But to his dismay, Horácio Favoretto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. 86 minutes into the match, Leões do Sul 53's goal looked a bit too open when Breno Ribeiro came free, but Rubinho Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leões do Sul 53's Horácio Favoretto got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leões do Sul 53's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
