Leões do Sul 53's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rubinho Couto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Melo in the 5th minute of the match. Rubinho Couto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eusébio Godoi in the 7th minute of play. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Horácio Favoretto to make the kick off. After 54 minutes of play, Leões do Sul 53's Horácio Favoretto made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. A collision led to Leões do Sul 53 getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Bernardo Soeiro hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Melo got free with Rubinho Couto in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rubinho Couto made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Alberto Melo sent off a good shot on target. In the 75th minute Edson Futebol Clube were awarded a corner. José do Valle went to the cornerflag to take it. After some careless play in the Leões do Sul 53 defense, Tostão Cardoso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rubinho Couto. The Leões do Sul 53 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rubinho Couto should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Paulo Brodel during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alberto Melo succeeded in the game's 97th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-5. The Edson Futebol Clube players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
