In the 5th minute Cássio Paes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubinho Abreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 played minutes ADM Taquaras got a freekick which was hit by João Corrêa. A collision led to Trindade Atlético Club getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Alex Santos hit a great ball. Edmílson Britto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benê Carioca in the 13th minute. In the 14th minute, Zé Madureira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rubinho Abreu came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Trindade Atlético Club's Edu Nóbrega. But to his dismay, Edu Nóbrega quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 27th match minute, ADM Taquaras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benê Carioca to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Trindade Atlético Club booed when ADM Taquaras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Corrêa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Duarte Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Rodriguinho da Mata hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Rubinho Abreu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yan Pereira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Gauch in the 42nd minute of play forced ADM Taquaras's goalkeeper Rubinho Abreu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Reinaldo Ferraz during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 43rd minute, Reinaldo Ferraz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the game, Alex Santos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Trindade Atlético Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ADM Taquaras the free kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Benê Carioca made the kick off in the second half. Trindade Atlético Club's Edmílson Britto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Madureira in the 51st minute of play. A collision led to Trindade Atlético Club getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Alex Santos hit a great ball. Edmílson Britto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Madureira, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Ediberto Varela's late challenge caught a Trindade Atlético Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ediberto Varela helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to ADM Taquaras getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Ediberto Varela hit a great ball. In the 69th minute of the match, Yan Pereira got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rubinho Abreu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cássio Paes got free with Rubinho Abreu in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rubinho Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edu Nóbrega, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 78th minute, Duarte Senna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's Yan Pereira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rubinho Abreu narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
