AF CERRADO's Thiago Damião got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 5 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's goal looked a bit too open when Thiago Damião came free, but Carlos Miguel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of GRÊMIO booed when AF CERRADO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Travassos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ettore Gaeta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Sandrinho Sabóia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Miguel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thiago Damião in the 10th minute of the match. Carlos Miguel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thiago Damião in the 11th minute of play. Cleto Amor hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, AF CERRADO's Richard Travassos got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 19th minute, Thiago Damião got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 23rd minute GRÊMIO were awarded a corner. Tyson Touro went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, GRÊMIO's Arí Terra got a free kick in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, AF CERRADO's Kaká Goiano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Miguel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. AF CERRADO's Thiago Damião got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tyson Touro hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. If Thiago Damião had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40thth minute of the game Thiago Damião who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GRÊMIO's Carlos Miguel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tomás Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Carlos Miguel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sandrinho Sabóia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Gai in the 43rd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Thiago Damião made a kick off. Thiago Damião sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Miguel was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Thiago Damião capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Thiago Damião really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in GRÊMIO's zone, Thiago Damião stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Miguel came out of the goal and Thiago Damião tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ettore Gaeta scored 1-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sandrinho Sabóia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 67th match minute, GRÊMIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lino da Costa to maneuver through the defense. When AF CERRADO's Thiago Damião in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye GRÊMIO's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of AF CERRADO booed when GRÊMIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arí Terra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thiago Damião was extremely unlucky when he, in the 84th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Carlos Miguel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the match, Tomás Schmidt notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of GRÊMIO's Carlos Miguel. Carlos Miguel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
