When the match clock showed 40 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Armando Botelho sped through Barcellos Mineiro FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Waldir Peres. Waldir Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raimundo Camargo in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Barcellos Mineiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Botelho came free, but Waldir Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 47 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Barcellos Mineiro FC's Caetano Toscano fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Caetano Toscano made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Capibaribe Stars getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Raimundo Camargo hit a great ball. Tadeu da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Peres having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raimundo Camargo in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Capibaribe Stars's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Anísio Quirino hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. After 68 minutes of play, Barcellos Mineiro FC's Caetano Toscano made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manfredo de Souza was left in no man's land by his defense there! Capibaribe Stars's Manfredo de Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chu Liang Ping in the 70th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Capibaribe Stars's Armando Botelho got a free kick in the 71st minute. Amadeu Capixaba's late challenge caught a Capibaribe Stars's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amadeu Capixaba helped the player get up and apologised. After 92 played minutes Barcellos Mineiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Amadeu Capixaba.
