Francisco do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ursino Silvestre, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Mestre GG's Francisco do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fábio Lima in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute Jânio Lopez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Betinho Mangueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Nestor Carioca made a huge save. Yuri Alberto might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Francisco do Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yuri Alberto ran back to his position shaking his head. Nestor Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dé Paiva in the 41st minute of play. Francisco do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jânio Lopez in the 45th minute of play. After 46 played minutes Mestre GG got a freekick which was hit by Wilson Donato. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After a rather tough play, Barrenta SC's Yuri Alberto got a free kick in the 51st minute. After 52 played minutes, Mestre GG's Benjamim Medeiros shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nestor Carioca came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mestre GG reached it. In the 53rd minute Joel Sabóia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Mestre GG booed when Barrenta SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fábio Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball.
