With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldinho Gaucho in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Robinho de Salles saved Nova Venécia-ES from getting behind. Gustavo Aparecido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dino Tavares in the 22nd minute of the match. Despite this Robinho de Salles quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Robinho de Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldinho Gaucho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dino Tavares to make the kick off.
