In the 30th match minute, Galo do Japi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelinho Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. Luís Eduardo dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Catarinense in the 34th minute of the match. In the 34th minute Joel Catarinense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Eduardo dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Galo do Japi's defense didn't have a chance, in the 39th minute, when Rei Messi scored to the left of an out of position Delfim Chaves, making the score, 1-0. Delfim Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vânderson Camargo, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Luís Eduardo dos Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Catarinense in the 44th minute of play. The supporters of Corumbaense F.C. booed when Galo do Japi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Falcão Duarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Galo do Japi's Gernando Gomes quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Amadeu Velloso, made in the 50th minute of the game. Corumbaense F.C.'s Luís Eduardo dos Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Catarinense in the 51st minute of play. Delfim Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rei Messi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56th minute, Rei Messi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Delfim Chaves was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. The referee gave Galo do Japi a penalty, 60 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Falcão Duarte, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Corumbaense F.C.'s Luís Eduardo dos Santos. 2-1. Luís Eduardo dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Catarinense in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Galo do Japi's Joel Catarinense dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Wilfredo Cefero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galo do Japi's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfredo Cefero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Eduardo dos Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ronaldo Joinvilense might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Eduardo dos Santos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronaldo Joinvilense ran back to his position shaking his head. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Corumbaense F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Falcão Duarte was slow to take the kick. During this time Galo do Japi's players had a chance to rest. 82 minutes into the match, José Pedro França had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Delfim Chaves. Galo do Japi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Pedro França was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. If Ronaldo Joinvilense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Corumbaense F.C. booed when Galo do Japi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilfredo Cefero didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes into the game, José Pedro França cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Delfim Chaves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 97th minute, Dagoberto Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Corumbaense F.C. fans cheered their team off the field, for while Galo do Japi had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
