In the 18th minute Michel Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Paulo Bueno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Queluzito defense, Klaas Jan Vennegoor Of Hesselink kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Paulo Bueno. The Queluzito fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Paulo Bueno should have stopped the shot. Michel Neves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Paulo Bueno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl-Oskar Strömberg in the 25th minute of play forced Nonatos United's goalkeeper João Vítor Arósio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
