One of Ascacibar-Pérez:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Newells Old Boys:s goal. In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Newells Old Boys. Esteban Rameriz stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Luciano Estebano. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amador Urti in the 13th minute of play forced Ascacibar-Pérez's goalkeeper Luciano Estebano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ladislao Jerardo hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Froilan Rafe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ismael Vela's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Ismael Vela put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Froilan Rafe. 37 minutes into the match, Benjamin Valiente had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luciano Estebano. Ascacibar-Pérez's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benjamin Valiente was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. The supporters of Ascacibar-Pérez booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Valiente didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luciano Estebano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amador Urti in the 45th minute of the match. When Ladislao Jerardo fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newells Old Boys's protests and gave Ladislao Jerardo a yellow card for diving instead. After 48 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Ladislao Jerardo.

The wind increased when Ismael Vela made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Ismael Vela had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Froilan Rafe. Newells Old Boys's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ismael Vela was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Tabb in the 57th minute of play forced Ascacibar-Pérez's goalkeeper Luciano Estebano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 4-2 when Ismael Vela sped through Newells Old Boys's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Froilan Rafe. Newells Old Boys's Froilan Rafe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ismael Vela in the 86th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ismael Vela during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ascacibar-Pérez's Ismael Vela got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After 93 played minutes, Newells Old Boys's Generoso Eyague shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Luciano Estebano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line.
